Cyrex Array 11: Chemical Immune Reactivity Screen

Reacting to Everyday Chemicals? Multiple Chemical Sensitivities? Chronic Intestinal Issues?

All of us, including newborn babies, have numerous chemicals in our bodies, that may be triggering all manner of health complaints. Most, if not all, of these toxic chemicals have been deemed safe by the UK, EU and USA. Most, if not all however, have not been safety tested in combination with the mulitple other chemicals to which we are exposed on a daily basis. For some people, repeated exposure to multiple everyday chemicals, such as those in cleaning fluids, cosmetics and dental components to name just a few, can prove too much exposure. Sometimes your immune system begins reacting against all manner of substances found in your mouth, food, home, car or workplace.

Do you have reason to suspect you might be reacting to environmental chemicals or toxins? Do you suffer from chronic niggling or severe health complaints from which you can't seem to recover? Are you one of those people who can't bear to walk past a perfume counter in a store? Or maybe you find the smell of cleaning fluids overwhelming? Or does your skin react easily to any number of cosmetics, detergents, or clothing? Do you suffer from respiratory conditions or allergies? Do you often feel fatigued for no apparent reason? Even frequent urination may be a sign of increased toxic burden.

If you answered yes to any of the above, it may be that your immune system has begun to react to environmental chemicals or toxins. These chemicals may be triggering autoimmune reactivity. Other lab tests may already have revealed elevated levels of auto-antibodies, such as to thyroid or gastrointestinal components, or perhaps you already have a medical diagnosis of an autoimmune disease. If this is true for you, then this test may help unearth the underlying triggers of your autoimmunity. Others may be unaware of any autoimmune processes occurring in their body, yet ongoing health complaints indicate that all is not well, and prompt the need to dig deeper to understand what is causing poor health.

Toxin-Overload: The human immune system is responsible for an enormous duty; to recognize and ignore all the cells and tissues within our body (self), and at the same time, attack any and all invaders, such as foreign cells, chemicals, viruses, bacteria, toxins, and fungi (non-self). Something in this delicate balance has changed over the last 50 years and it is pushing our immune systems to its limit: we are at the edge of our immune system’s capacity. Interference with this balance by environmental triggers can result in over-activity to harmless antigens, leading to autoimmunity.

An Ubiquitous Problem: Each chemical or "xenobiotic" on Array 11, as listed below, is found in normal home, automobile and office environments. What's more, it is thought that virtually the entire population of our planet now has multiple chemical toxins in their bodies; chemicals that probably weren't even thought of in our ancestors' time. Toxins such as bisphenol-A (found in plastic water bottles) have even been detected even in newborn babies. Even consumption of non-organic food or unfiltered water can increase your body's toxic load. It is nigh on impossible to avoid the contact with these chemical compounds in our daily life.

Array 11 identifies immune reactivity to the following everyday chemicals:

  • Aflatoxins: chemical compounds produced by many strains of mould
  • Formaldehyde + Glutaraldehyde: used in disinfectants, preservatives, automobiles, home furnishings, carpets, cosmetics, pesticides, paints and many more
  • Isocyanate: used in foams, fibers, paints, varnishes, insulation materials, car seats,  furniture, foam mattresses, under-carpet padding, packaging materials, shoes, laminated fabrics and adhesives.
  • Trimellitic + Phthalic Anhydrides: used in cleaning products, adhesives, packaging, toys, nutritional supplements, pharmaceuticals, detergents, cosmetics, shampoos, plastic bags, fragrances
  • Benzene Ring Compounds: sources include tobacco smoke, auto exhaust, paints, glues, detergents, air around gas stations
  • BPA Binding Protein
  • Bisphenol A: found in plastic food/drink packaging, thermal till receipts, dental sealants and composites, inner laquer coating of food cans
  • Tetrabromobisphenol A: component of flame retardents, lighting fixtures, furniture parts, electronic circuit boards etc
  • Tetrachloroethylene: sources include dry-cleaned clothes, water-repellants, paint removers, spot removers, leather products, chlorinated water, adhesives, paper coatings
  • Parabens: may be found in red wine, iced tea, fish & shellfish, dairy products
  • Mixed Heavy Metals (Nickel, Cobalt, Cadmium, Lead, Arsenic): sources include cigarette smoke, batteries, cosmetics, automobile emissions, paints, inks and varnishes
  • Mercury Compounds: common in dental amalgams / metal fillings, energy-efficient light bulbs, shellfish and fish esp larger species such as tuna and shark, pesticides and fungicides

Autoimmunity: The human immune system has not evolved as fast as humans have created mass quantities of chemicals. Depending on various factors, including your genetic predispostion and your gut health, you may be more sensitive than others to toxic chemicals. Various contributing factors may provoke your immune system, causing it to create antibodies to the toxins in your body. Your immune system may even create antibodies to its own tissues,  as the chemicals in your body bind to your own bodily tissues and/or DNA. If so, your exposure to chemicals might be adversely affecting your health, and may even trigger autoimmunity.

Cyrex Array 11: The Chemicals Test assesses how you are reacting to the everyday chemicals and toxins that you are exposed to, and helps us identify potential causes of your health complaints. Armed with this invaluable information, we can assist in setting guidelines to help you minimise your exposure to certain chemicals that you react to, to reduce the risk of igniting the autoimmune process in your body. By eliminating specific identified triggers and mediators of your symptoms, and enhancing healthy function of your gut, liver and detoxification pathways, you can progress onto new heights of optimal health.
