What if your GP Tests are normal?

Standard NHS testing for thyroid function is commonly confined to measuring thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) - which is a pituitary gland hormone and NOT a thyroid hormone.  Sometimes GP tests may also include free T4. Conventional testing usually neglects to measure thyroid auto-antibodies (associated with autoimmune thyroid conditions such as Hashimoto's Disease) or Reverse T3 (which can prevent the active thyroid hormone, T3, getting into the cells where it is needed)!
