Thyroid Plus: Our Best Thyroid Test

Comprehensive Thyroid Screen with Reverse T3, Free T3 & Thyroid Antibodies

Do you suffer from symptoms such as weight gain, fatigue, depression, anxiety/panic attacks, coldness, constipation, skin issues, hair-loss, headaches, PMS, dysmenorrhea, fluid retention, slow metabolism, decreased memory and concentration, muscle and joint pain, and/or a low sex drive? Would you benefit from private thyroid testing?

Genova's Thyroid Plus profile,  analyses serum levels of TSH, total T4, free T4, free T3, Reverse T3, TG autoantibodies, and TPO autoantibodies so to assess central and peripheral thyroid function, as well as thyroid auto-immunity. It thus provides a full picture of thyroid health status. Thyroid imbalances have far reaching effects and elicit a wide variety of symptoms, including but not limited to those mentioned above.

Thyroid Plus markers at a glance:

  • Total Thyroxine (T4)
  • Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH)
  • Free Thryoxine (fT4)
  • Free T3 (fT3)
  • FT4:fT3 ratio - this indicates the conversion rate of free thyroxine to the more active thyroid hormone free T3.
  • Reverse T3 (rT3)
  • Thyroglobulin antibodies (TG)
  • Thyroid peroxidate antibodies (TPO)

What if your GP Tests are normal?

Standard NHS testing for thyroid function is commonly confined to measuring thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) - which is a pituitary gland hormone and NOT a thyroid hormone.  Sometimes GP tests may also include free T4. Conventional testing usually neglects to measure thyroid auto-antibodies (associated with autoimmune thyroid conditions such as Hashimoto's Disease) or Reverse T3 (which can prevent the active thyroid hormone, T3, getting into the cells where it is needed)! Conventional medical practice tends to assume that if your TSH levels are "normal", then your thyroid function must be "normal", no matter whether your clinical indications are to the contrary.  If you are looking for answers to your health issues, and have not undergone comprehensive thyroid testing, you may like to consider the Thyroid Plus Profile.

Thyroid Plus and other private lab tests  demonstrate that it is entirely possible to have "normal" levels of TSH and free T4, whilst having abnormally high levels of Reverse T3 causing your metabolic rate to plummet, resulting in those undesirable symptoms related to slow metabolism. Likewise it is possible to have "normal" thyroid markers from your GP test and yet have elevated autoantibodies and low levels of T3 (the principle active thyroid hormone) with similar effects to other hypothyroid conditions.

Have you ever been told that there is nothing wrong with you because your NHS tests are all "normal", despite having symptoms such as fatigue, depression, coldness, constipation, poor skin, headaches, PMS, dysmenorrhea, fluid retention, weight gain, anxiety/panic attacks, decreased memory and concentration, muscle and joint pain, and/or a low sex drive? If so, you might just benefit from private thyroid testing.
